40th Anniversary of the launch of Apollo 11

Yesterday (July 16) was the 40th anniversary of the launch of Apollo 11. I was just 8 then, but I was still really excited about the mission. It is hard to believe that it was 40 years ago and that we have accomplished so little in Space since then.

Andrew Chaikin, the author of what I think is one of, if not the, definitive book on the Apollo missions (A Man on the Moon) has a good column in space.com on the significance of the anniversary.

I'll probably have a few more posts on this as thoughts percolate on the topic.
