The 1930s revisited

You can always count on Victor Davis Hansen to put the world situation in proper perspective. He has a great column in NRO on how so many people today just seem oblivious to the growing threat of Islamic jihadists. It is just amazing to me when I hear criticism of Israeal in their war against Hezbollah. They are doing our work for us. Hezbollah is our enemy too. They were the group responsible for the deaths of 241 Marines in the Marines' barracks bombing in the 1980s. They were the group that took Americans hostage in Lebanon. Anyone who doesn't think that Hezbollah are barbarians that need to be defeated should listen to or read the description of those former hostages as to how they were treated. I heard the director of the new documentary "Obsession" interviewed and he was talking about how people in the West seem to want to rationalize the actions of the jihadists- "oh, they are just fighting for land that was taken from them" (even when, in the present Israel war all that land has been given back) or some such, when the actual reason is that they want to drive all Jews into the sea and put the rest of us under Sharia law- THAT'S WHAT THEY WANT!!! There is no negotiating with these people, they have to be defeated.
