Scenarios for NASA's future

There's a post here about possible scenarios for NASA's future exploration plans being considered by the Augustine Commission. Interesting stuff. I don't know how much of this will translate out into the ultimate report, but according to this the five scenarios being considered are:

1) Lunar Base: goal of assembling a fixed lunar base
2) Lunar Global: not building a lunar base, but focusing more on human sorties and robotic exploration
3) Moon to Mars: flights to the Moon would only be conducted as they specifically would help a Mars mission
4) Mars First: try to get humans to Mars ASAP
5) Flexible Path: focus more on near Earth asteroids and the moons of Mars

I think it would be great if they focused on scenario 3 or 5 though they shouldn't exclude going to the Moon or Mars as scenario 5 seems to indicate.
