things could have been worse

I went to bed feeling pretty bummed out. I was kind of surprised to wake up to find that apparently Norm Coleman, Gordon Smith and Ted Stevens too(?) have held on to their Senate seats so the Dems won't have a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. It looks like the Republicans didn't lose as many House seats as some had been predicting. I'm not optimistic about the coming Obama presidency. I think we're in for a rough 4 years both economically and in terms of foreign challenges. Hopefully, the Republicans can make some gains in the Congress in 2010 and field a better nominee for President in 2012.
