Obama wouldn't be able to pass a security clearance

On Fox & Friends they just had on national security expert Daniel Pipes and he confirmed what I had long suspected- that Barack Obama, if he was just an ordinary citizen, wouldn't be able to get a security clearance. His associations with guys like Bill Ayers and Rashid Khalidy would be viewed as just too suspect. So if he can't get a clearance, why would we elect him as our president?

Tony Blankley on whether Obama is a radical or sensible

Tony Blankley has a good column on whether Obama is "secretly sensible". His conclusion is that Obama probably is the radical that he has been for most of his life rather than the centrist that he has portrayed himself as in the last few months... sounds like a reasonable conclusion to me! and all the more reason to defeat the guy on election day.

Obama: using the courts to redistribute wealth

One of the big problems in opposing Obama is that the guy has left so little of a paper trail. Matt Drudge linked to a 2001 radio interview (when Obama was a state senator) where he talks about using the courts to redistribute wealth and also infers that the constitution is an impediment. This is the real Barack Obama. I sure hope the McCain campaign jumps on this and gets it into campaign ads.

Pat Buchanan on media malpractice in the Presidential race

Pat Buchanan has a good column on the double standard in the media with regards to the Presidential race. I just love the question posed in his title: "What if SNL mocked Michelle Obama?". I mean really... there is so much buffoonery on the Obama campaign, I think there'd be some hilarious comedy bits, but we can't make fun of "the One" now can we?

Congratulations to India on the launch of Chandrayaan-1

Congratulations to the Indians on the successful launch of their Chandrayaan-1 lunar orbiter. Looks like it was a very successful launch. Let's keep our fingers crossed that they also have a successful transfer orbit to the Moon and lunar orbit insertion. It should be a really neat mission.

the "intellectual elites" vs. Sarah Palin

I have just been shaking my head several times over the last several days or week or so to see so many of the so-called conservative "intelligentsia" either diss Sarah Palin or fall all over themselves with praise for Barack Obama. In the latter category are people such as David Brooks of the NY Times and in the former category is Peggy Noonan. Noonan wrote an opinion piece against Sarah Palin. I used to really think Peggy Noonan was great, but know I think that she is just as bad as some of my friends who appalled by Sarah Palin for reasons that I think I'm gradually coming to understand. Palin didn't graduate from an Ivy League school. She didn't work for years in Washington. She just doesn't fit the mold of what a good intellectual OR (equally acceptable to some people) Washington insider should be. For myself, I'll take honesty, common sense, and an appreciation of traditional American values any day of the week over some Ivy League college degree. Heck, to me, the latter is a negative mark. I think it is just sad that so many people seem to have gotten their thoughts twisted into pretzels in the bizarre notion that the Ivy League degree and/or Washington experience is superior to honesty and common sense. Come Election Day, I just hope there are more people who agree with me.

Obama stumbles into the truth regarding his "tax cuts"

The NY Post has a good editorial that tells the truth about Obama's supposed "tax cuts for 95% of Americans". It is really a transfer of wealth and it wouldn't be coming from the absurdly wealthy, there just aren't too many of those people, no it would have to come from the upper middle class. One of the upper middle class, plumber Joe Wurzelbacher confronted Obama about this at a campaign stop in Toledo, Ohio and Obama told him:

"It's not that I want to punish your success, I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance for success, too . . . When you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."

McCain has GOT TO confront him with this "spread the wealth around" statement at tonight's debate.

Please Tina Fey, keep your word!

An article here that Tina Fey said that she would "leave Earth" if Sarah Palin wins. We can only hope that she actually keeps her word!

Dennis Prager on red vs. blue America

Dennis Prager has a good column on the concept that there are "2 Americas"- one red and one blue (as per the election map). I'm afraid he's right. It just seems that a lot of the people that I know look at the world in a completely different way than I do. A good couple of paragraphs from the article:

"The left prefers to identify as citizens of the world. The left fears nationalism in general (this has been true for the European left since World War I), and since the 1960s, the American left has come to fear American nationalism in particular. On the other side, the right identifies first as citizens of America.

The left therefore regards the notion of American exceptionalism as chauvinism; the United Nations and world opinion are regarded as better arbiters of what is good than is America. The right has a low opinion of the U.N.'s moral compass and of world opinion, both of which it sees as having a much poorer record of stopping genocide and other evils than America has."

It is troubling, but I think that Dennis has it right.

Michael Barone on the threat to Free Speech from the Obama-noids

There is a great article here by Michael Barone where he details some of the abuses of Free Speech that have already taken place by Obama supporters (the Obama-noids as I like to call them). The tactics that the Obama-noids are using are eerily reminiscent of the tactics that Hitler's brown shirts used to silence their opponents. Draw whatever parallels you will.

Krauthammer on Obama's character

There's a good column here by Charles Krauthammer on Obama and his shady associations. A key paragraph:

"Obama's political career was launched with Ayers giving him a fundraiser in his living room. If a Republican candidate had launched his political career at the home of an abortion-clinic bomber -- even a repentant one -- he would not have been able to run for dogcatcher in Podunk. And Ayers shows no remorse. His only regret is that he "didn't do enough.""

Sarah unfiltered

I thought the VP debate tonight was great. Sarah Palin did a great job. Joe Biden was his typical blowhard self. I was really blown away watching Frank Luntz's focus group on Fox News. Just about everybody in his focus group thought she won the debate. Then he asked them did she do better than they expected and, again, just about everybody raised their hands. This just demonstrates what I was saying in a previous post- the media has been painting a picture of Sarah Palin that is just completely at odds with reality. The media has been depicting her as some kind of redneck dope, but the reality is that she is smart, energetic, and amiable and has a great talent to connect with people. I don't know if there will be any more opportunities for "Sarah unfiltered" to connect with the American people maybe she just needs to get out and do a bunch of local radio shows or something like that.

"Palin's war on the press"? They are at war against her.

An article here by Chris Cillizza with the headline "Palin's war on the press". That gets thing a** backwards- they've been on war against her. I'm afraid that they're winning too. I saw a poll saying that a majority of the public think that she is unprepared to be president. This poll result has got to be the result of the constant drum beat by the press and Saturday Night Live and the tabloids saying that she is some kind of redneck dunce. It is just disgusting, but I am afraid that with all the repetition that they've succeeded in sterotyping her. Maybe if she does fabulous in the debate tonight that will change public opinion, but I'm starting to get pessimistic.
