so glad that we taxpayers are paying for the Obamas' night out on the town

So Barack and Michelle Obama had a big night on the town in NYC. According to the story in the NY Post

"Taxpayers footed the bill for the big night on the town, which included a total of at least $24,000 for the three aircraft used to ferry the Obamas, aides and reporters to New York and back. Dinner costs and orchestra seat tickets -- at $96.50 apiece -- were paid by the Obamas."

I bet it cost a lot more than $24,000 for those two to have their "date". Are the people in the country ever going to start feeling some outrage about these prima donnas living like royalty at our expense???

How did these people get to be "the elites"?

Good post here by Tom Blumer about how so many well-off folks who supported Obama are now shocked to see that he actually is doing what he said he would do (albeit in roundabout terms), but also that what he revealed in unguarded moments- namely that he firmly believes in redistribution of wealth and government power (dare I say it?) uber alles. As Blumer writes:

"Slowly but surely it is dawning on many of these elites that Obama is exactly what he was in rare unguarded moments during his presidential campaign, during his brief U.S. Senate career as its most liberal member, during his time as an Illinois senator, and, to the extent we were able or allowed to learn it, during his life up to that point: a far-left, class-warfare, redistributionist demagogue. They are also learning that he is bound and determined to impose a radical agenda on the rest of the country and that he has little interest in making exceptions for those who thought they were buying protection or favors with their campaign dollars."

where are the women's rights groups on this? oh yeah, they don't really like sex

This is an amazing story... a woman arrested in England for making too much noise during "the act". The article points out the parallels between this arrest and the Party in Orwell's "1984" which was anti-sex because it was something they couldn't control... only a matter of time before we see something like this over here unless we do something to stop the march of liberal fascism.

Good extended review/analysis of Star Trek

Star Trek!!!

I just got back from seeing the new Star Trek movie and in one word: AWESOME. It was an incredibly fast paced movie. You have to have some suspension of disbelief about how rapidly people can get promoted in Starfleet, but if you can get past that, it is fabulous. I grew up watching the reruns of the original series and to see those characters revitalized... it was tremendous. When the closing credits came and they ran the original theme music tears came to my eyes.

$17 billion out of $3.5 trillion

This story says that Obama wants to trim $17 billion out of the $3.5 trillion 2010 budget... whoop di doo.

Jim Geraghty has some polling results which show Republicans in strong positions in several gubernatorial and senate races. I love the poll result showing Scott McInnis ahead of Bill Ritter 48 to 41%. Has McInnis actually said that he would run though? I hope he does. I think he would be a strong candidate and Ritter has GOT TO GO!
