The Pentagon to put up a solar power satellite???

Aviation Week and Space Technology has an article that the Pentagon is seriously considering putting up a solar power satellite as a pilot project to examine the feasibility of such systems as power sources for remote bases. Wow. That would be amazing if they do it. It would just be another demonstration that the DoD is probably the government agency with the most "out of the box" thinkers. It was after all the DoD that did the DC-X vertical take-off/vertical landing rocket demonstrator and the DoD that orbited the Clementine lunar orbiter.
